This film unashamedly champions regenerative farming (a series of processes intended to restore the condition of soil to make the growing of food sustainable in the long term) by following three young farmers over the course of a year. The type of farming ranges from arable crops to salad fruit, vegetables to cattle. The sheer dedication, work ethic and passion of the protagonists to find solutions to producing food which is sustainable, local and which reduces carbon dioxide emissions is informative, interesting and inspiring. Innovative ways of reducing the traditional reliance on insecticides, weed-killers and fertilisers for crops and anti-bacterial drugs for livestock are being tested, using a combination of common sense and science. One striking aspect is how allowing cattle to graze in coppiced woodland and reducing the use of cattle feed where there is sufficient pasture can result in a net carbon dioxide reduction.
Viewers are challenged to think more about what we eat and how it is sourced. Highly recommended.
