What is the meaning and purpose of pilgrimage? These questions are explored in a deeply touching way by Rowan Williams using readings from a number of sources including Rumi, T.S. Elliot and John Bunyan, and enlivening music from Spain related to The Camino. Most interesting of all though are Dr. Willams’s own words on what it means to be a pilgrim. He suggests that there is a need for an inner pilgrimage, of becoming aware of the chaos in which we live.

The most recent programme in the series, “Brides of God” (in which the musician Jahnavi Harrison celebrates women who have followed a spiritual path) is also of interest, especially for the quality of music from the Hindu and Buddhist traditions.
